To all the women I know—
Over the past few weeks leading up to April 14th, I’ve often heard variations of:
“Hey, you guys have something on that day, right?”
“अरे, उस दिन तुम्हारा कुछ है ना।”
“अरे, तुमचं काय आहे ना?”
So, I just want to take a moment to bring something to your attention.
Now that many of you have completed your primary education and graduated in fields like finance, management, medicine, engineering—or are actively studying or working—you need to know this:
What you are today, regardless of your religion, caste, or background, is possible only because of the constitutional rights granted to you by Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar.
If it weren’t for him, not just minorities, but even women from so-called “upper castes” may have never had the right or opportunity to be educated, to work, or to even dream of independence.
So yes, April 14th is something of “ours”. It’s a reminder of the foundation that gave all of us the dignity to learn, grow, and lead.
